Windows Update with XP

M

mark

Below is what I get when trying to go to Windows Update,
the "windows" in left nav is grayed out. The other two,
drivers and critical seems ok, they're blue links and [0]
no updates. Does anyone know how to fix this error?

I've tried all of the suggestions on Microsofts site and
did an update installation of Windows XP, still no luck.
Thank you.

There are two solutionsx for this problem:

Solution I:

Disable FireWall and Antivirus in your system.

a.. Right-click on My Network Places
a.. Select Properties
a.. Double click Local Network Connection or Modem
a.. Click Advanced
a.. Uncheck Internet Connection Firewall

Soltuion II:

deleting all of the content in Program Files\Windowsupdate and
ProgramFiles\Windowsupdate\V4 except for the iuhist.xml file located in
ProgramFiles\Windowsupdate\V4.
