Went into win.update to check on updates for sp2 and history says sp2 failed
to install. clicked on failed, says error code 80070003. checked out the
other problems with this code and followed instructions, checked the alluser
folder and the sub folder network was there. also the computer say that Sp2
is running. the security center and windows firewall(and some others) icons
are on the control panel and the updates for Sp2 installed with no problem.
earlier i was checking in the groups on why after downloading sp2 was
running so slow and one of the mvp suggested to remove some unneeded files
that had to do with the setup to install and to compress some other files,
that worked with no problem. it runs at or about the same as b-4. Also i did
the update from cd from MS and updated the bios as suggested by Dell all with
no problem.

Hi,

Please refer to this article

How to use the Automatic Recovery feature to recover your computer if the
Windows XP Service Pack 2 Setup program is not completed successfully:

Hope this helps ...... :)
