Just downloaded and installed a "cumulative security update for outlook
express for windows vista" and I can't find oe anywhere. Anyone have any
ideas where it might be? ;)

If you have read the Update carefully it said for Outlook Express and Windows Mail
I know that oe isn't a part of vista, and I know that windows mail has
supplanted it. I would have thought the wink would have caused everyone
to realize the "seriousness" of my post.

However, clearly and unequivocally my update history reads:
Cumulative Security Update for Outlook Express for Windows Vista (KB929123)
Installation date: ?6/?12/?2007 11:05 PM
Installation status: Successful
Update type: Important
A security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to
remotely compromise your Windows-based system using Outlook Express. You
can help protect your computer by installing this update from Microsoft.
After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

I rest my case. ;)

If you look at the details for the update and navigate to the KB article for
it you will see the full article name includes "...for Outlook Express and
Windows Mail". There are separate downloads for each platform.

I get it. Do the two of you? I posted the original info tongue in cheek.
My only point was that the info presented and displayed without delving
into the depths of the bulletin is not correctly presented to the user. No
harm meant. Has everything about vista become so serious as to be lacking
any tolerance to a humorous poke?

I saw the smiley. I posted to make sure others didn't get misled. I'm not
sure why you saw the replies as lacking tolerance for humor.

Additional norm, I'm sure that truncated title has caused questions for
quite a few users. I did a double take on it myself and went to the update
details to see for sure. I always do that anyway for all updates. So I
wanted to make sure some one who didn't understand it knew. Not everyone
would realize yours was a joke. I meant no slight.

Me either. Enjoy.
