windows update problem

Hey, if someone could help me I'd really appreciate it.
I need to download the Microsoft .NET framework windows
update on my computer to run a visual basic program, but
it fails to install stating it cannot find the windows
installer. I recently upgraded my computer to windows xp
pro, so I don't know if that could be related. Any way
to fix this so I can download the necessary update?
