Windows update files

I had created some Word files and had stored them in a
folder named WUTemp. I recently ran Windows Update on my
system and everything went smoothly. However, I later
noticed that the files I had in the WUTemp folder were
gone and had been replaced by several folders which
apparently are associated with the Windows Updates I
selected. Is there any way to recover the files that I
previously had in the WUTemp folder. I have done a search
of my hard drive and the Recyble bin but the files don't
seem to be anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

You're out of luck unless you have a backup. Windows Update thinks it
owns WUTemp and will happily delete anything it finds there. A successful
update should leave the folder empty.
