Windows Update Failing after W2000 SP4

R

Randy

I installed Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 via Windows
Update. After restart, Windows Update no longer
recognizes the OS as it appears to give an error for non-
supported OS's. See message below. Anyone know about
this?

Thank you for your interest in Windows Update

Windows Update is the online extension of Windows that
helps you get the most out of your computer.

The latest version of Windows Update is available on
computers that are running Microsoft Windows 98, Windows
98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows
2000 (except Windows 2000 Datacenter Server), Windows XP,
and the Windows Server 2003 family.

Getting the exact same problem. There is virtually
nothing useful in the knowledge base article. Language is
set correctly. Had this problem on my XP box and got it
to go away by redirecting it through the Windows Catalog
link (which doesn't make sense, but it worked). Updated
the Windows 2000 system and got it to work after about 30
retries, downloaded some patches, and now I can't get
anything but the thank you page.
