Windows Update error 80072F8F

I have a clean load of Vista Ultimate. When I run Windows update I ger an
error that says "Windows could not search for new updates" Followed by
"Code 80072F8F"
I looked on line and only found refrences to this error being caused by the
syatem clock or time one being off. I have checked and the clock and time
zone are correct.
Any helpful suggestions are appreciated.

Try running SFC from an elevated command prompt. This error is reported,
but no MSKB for it has been made. I've seen the clock refs but they arent'
the only causes.

1) Right click cmd on the start menu>run as admin>type in sfc/ scannow.

2) If this doesn't resolve, then try restore points to before this occurred.

3) If those don't help, do a startup repair by insterting the DVD and
booting from it. Use the link on the lower left in the setup screen after
you have the chance to choose language. You do not have to be in a no boot
situation for Startup Repair to fix Vista.

that your system date and tine are way off.

Set the proper date and time and that error will go away
