Windows Update button in Control Panel not working

Hi,

1. The Windows Update button in the control panel doesn't work (I cannot
have access to the Microsoft update page. The message Unable to access URL
appears). However, when I use the Internet, I do not have any problem
entering the Microsoft update site and then do a search for critical
updates.
2. There is no WindowsUpdate folder in Program Files. Could this be the
cause of my problem?

Thank you for your help. Please provide detailed solution: I am not an
expert in computer science technology?

windows update button in the control panel? as you need
