Windows Update broke my SigmaTEL audio

Jason

I have a desktop with an Intel 955 XBK board. I installed Vista
Business a couple months back and my audio has been working fine.

I recently ran Windows Update and it listed a SigmaTel update so I
installed it. Doing that broke my audio.

I have uninstalled all SigmaTel programs from the PC, downloaded the
latest version of the Vista SigmaTel driver from Intel's website, and
when I run it, it tells me that "This is not the correct audio driver
for this system. The installer will now exit."

In Device Manager I see "Sigma Tel High Definition Audio CODEC" with
an error that reads " Windows cannot load the device driver for this
hardware."

Can anyone point me in the right direction? TIA

I am having the exact same problem, except immediately after I installed
Vista, it did not recognize it. So I need help too. If you have solved this
problem, please let me know

Go to Intel's web site, to the download section, enter your mobo's EXACT
number, and download the appropriate audio driver. Make sure you've
completely uninstalled any previous audio drivers.
