Can't get sigmatel onboard audio card to work with Vista

I have a recent Intel board with a Core Duo processor. Built in is a
Sigmatel audio card which worked well enough with XP.

I've spent much of the day trying everything I can think of to get it
to work properly with Vista but no luck. At one point one of the
drivers from the the Intel site had the sound output working okay but
the microphone input was consistently very weak--much too weak for
Dragon speech software, for instance, and mostly just not available at
all.

Does anyone know of drivers that will actually work under Vista for
the Sigmatel onboard audio card on an Intel DQ965GF board???

I've tried completely uninstalling the Sigmatel entry from the program
list. Vista tries to install a driver but reports that it can't
complete installation because "A device attached to the system is not
functioning."

Thanks in advance for any help!

Do Intel have the updated Vista drivers on their site since they are the
motherboard manufacturers?

Yes, they have several--none of them work with microphone input--not
good for someone dependent on speech-recognition for heavy-duty
writing!

You probably need to look at a separate soundcard for the detail you need.
