windows update and windows xp

i recently had to restore my windows xp home with quickrestore cds that came
with my computer. I thought I did it correctly but for some reason i cant
update from the windows update sight. i cant even get on the site but i can
get on every other site. i need to upgrade because my xp is the factory
installed edition. i dont know if i even have sp 1 or 2 or neither. please
help....

Follow the Service Pack Installation Checklist to install SP-2:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/spackins.htm

Then attempt to install the remaining updates.
If there are issues post back to the Windows Update newsgroup with details
including exact error message.
