My Windows Vista time is off and will not reset to Internet time. When I run
the Change the Time and Date Settings I get an error message when I try to
connect to the various government time sources: "An error occurred while
Windows was synchronizing with..." How can I get Windows to connect and
correct to Intenet time?

Did you try to connect to the windows time server ? All the gov time servers
were down this am but the windows server worked for me.

I get the same message: "An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing
with time.windows.com."

Hi,

If you have a firewall running or have a router that is firewalling your
outgoing ports, you need to add a rule to allow port 123 outwards access to
the Internet. This is the port used for time sync and I've found that most
firewalls and routers do not have this open by default - don't know why,
nothing is ever easy with computers is it?

Depending on the firewall or router, there may be a preset you can select
for Time Services, otherwise add a manual rule for Port 123.

Cheers,

Philip

I'm seeing this here as well, however time-a.nist.gov seems to be working
pretty quickly this evening.

The government is on holiday - don't use their servers. There are a couple
of dozen other servers.
