windows text won't close

whenever i'm on a site and i want to close the window by
clicking the red x square or by closing via right click
of the mouse and chose close, it won't let me do it and
it gives me a klunking sound.

how do i correct this problem for this have been plaguing
me the last 3 days.
thx for any kind of help
 
Are you saying that you cannot close Internet Explorer?
The red X is to stop. The black X in the upper-right corner is to close.
What happens when you click on the black X?
