Hello,

I have a guest account, which to stop the person using, disabled the run
command, straight from the desktop. When pressing ctrl alt and del I noticed
that a run command is on there. At my "school" they have made the task
manager still open when you press ctrl alt delete, just the jun option is not
there. How do I do this. I don't mind th change being made to all account or
just the guest account and one other. (Am willing to do it twice).

If anyone can hlpe me, please try

daniel

Hi,

It's available in Pro only as part of the Group Policy editor (gpedit.msc).
Under User Config\Admin Template\Start Menu and Taskbar, there is an option
to disable "run".

Hi, So it's only availible in XP pro, not home edition, :(. Never mind, I was
wondering if there is any tweaking programs that you might have come accross
that would allow me to do that.?

Thank-you for your time.

Hi Daniel,

Copy/paste the below into notepad. Then use file/"save as" and call it
norun.reg (make sure to change the file types to "all files"), and save it
to a location of your choice. Then double-click the file and allow it to
merge with your registry. This will block the use of "new task" in Task
Manager. To reverse it, right click the .reg file and change the dword value
to all 0's and save the changes, then rerun the file.

----Start below this line----
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer]
"NoRun"=dword:00000001
----Do not include this line-----

Damn, that should be:

----Start below this line----
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer]
"NoRun"=dword:00000001

----Do not include this line-----

Sorry.

Dear "Nutcase",

Your help with the registry to remove New task from the task manager was
brilliant. It was exactly what I required, (or wanted). There is another
little thing that I would like to do and wondered if you know how this can be
solved. (you obviously know your stuff).

I would like to know if there is a way to do any of the following.

Where I am able to log out currently logged in users via the task manager,
am I able to log them in.

When there is more than one person logged into their windows account at
once, I am able to connect (by right clicking). It promts me for their
password. This level of security is really pointless, as I am able to set the
password in the accounts section of the control pannel. If there a way in
which when I just click on connect that it allows me to switch without
needing to know their password.

In theory they can also block me from seeing their "My documents" by
navigating to the desktop (eg. just typing "desktop" in the address bar of a
explorer window) then right clicking on "my documents", then the sharing tab,
then the "make this folder private" etc. Is there a way of disabling this?

I would appreciate any help that you could offer me on any of the above
things.

Thank-you for your time,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

No, it has to be done the traditional way.

Nope again.

No, but you can always add acess using cacls.
