Windows Task Manager

Task Manager seems to run every time I switch on my computer, and everything
I am rying to do on the computer responds extremely slowly as a consequence.
Does Task Manager have to run all the time or how do I turn it off?

No, Task Manager should not run unless you start it.

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the
malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what
programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?

Be sure the computer is clean:

In your case, I would answer the Second Question first.

Hi Malke

Problem first arose after I installed a new game from gsp software for my
grand-daughter.

I have now removed this from my computer, and ran Trend Micro Housecall.
This appears to have resolved the problem, thank you. Do you think I should
avoid re-installing this particular software?

Since I don't know what the game is or who "gsp software" is, I'd have
to say that if you have a clear cause-and-effect where things go wonky
when you install this software and get better when you remove it... then
don't install the software! Of course, you may have been infested with
something prior to the game installation and the game may have nothing
to do with your issues. There's no way I can guess, sorry.

Oh, no. It was probably just a fluke that it infected your computer
with a virus, and if you reinstall the exact same program it probably
won't infect your computer with a virus again.
