My PC last week came up with the above message followed
by "you can attempt to repair this using the recovery
console, type R, etc". The problem I have is my pc, i am
told is OEM and does not have a recovery console on it.
When any key is pressed it just reboots and then shows the
message agin after the blue/white HP screen. If I press F*
I have several options to start in Safe Mode, etc. but
every one of these options does not work. You get the
otion to start in the selected mode using the only
installed Operating System (Whistler or something) and
then it just reboots back to the above screen. I am
completely stuck, please help!!!!!!

You should have the same option as a repair install under
Program files>HP tools. It may look at first that you are selecting to
reformat
but if you continue you will have an option for a repair install.

I think the poster is saying he does not have a system cd. That would
inhibit a repair install.

In the situation you describe, there's nothing that can be done
without the installation CD. Why don't you still have it?
