HELPMy extended warranty provider said that the only thing
they can do is help me run the recovery cd. We first tried
safe mode (F8 when computer was turned on) and this did
not fix the problem. Before I run recovery cd and loose
all my saved info, is there any other options.

Hi,

Whether or not you can recover depends on what you can access. This article
describes the process you need to go through:

How to Recover from a Corrupted Registry [Q307545]
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307545

If you have a friend with a retail copy, you may be able to borrow it and
load the Recovery Console if your system maker does not provide for this.

It would help if you gave us the exact error message, and tell us when
the error appears.
