Windows System Error

Gordon

I have recently been seeing a Windows System Error pop-up with the
message; Insufficient system resources to complete the API, after my
computer has been idle long enough to go into sleep mode. I can not
figure out what is "insufficient."

This is a new computer I built last November, using a Gigabyte
GA-P35-DS3L motherboard with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, two 1GB
memory sticks and a 500 GB Western Digital hard drive. I am running
Windows XP Pro SP 2, MS Office 2007, Adobe Photo Shop, and a few other
minor client programs. The system is by no means overloaded. What is
likely causing this error message. When it happens the computer won't
go into sleep mode but comes back alive with the monitor on and
everything active.

Any ideas, anyone? Gordon

Hey Gordon
I have been experiencing the same, and it too has just popped out of nowhere
(although I know something must have happened). I searched the error (check
out google groups with the error message in the search) and it has been
ongoing from around 2006 according to the date on some of the posts I have
seen. There have been a couple of hotfixes to deal with this but they
haven't solved the issue, apparantly.

The problem seems to be related to hibernation. I don't think I need
hibernation so I disabled it. Will monitor.

I have an "older" p4 with 1.5 gigs ram Windows SP2 with the media center
edition.

Anything available Microsoft guys????
