Windows Svchost wrror

hi
Each time i use the net i got svchost error and it will be closed. This
means that I can't copy, save, search, or open applications and have to
restart the computer. I'm using win2000 with service pack3.
IBM personal computer 300GL
Can any one help me?

Often as the result of a virus, youve done a virus scan?
