Windows subsystem system process failure

Hi,

I've just returned to my computer to find a BSOD I went to refresh
windows XP from the CD-ROM in safe mode but it wouldn't let me do
that as it was the older SP1 version. So I went to uninstall SP2
which was unsucessful but windows was still working. When I rebotted
however, I got the following message:

STOP: c000021a {fatal system error}
The windows Subsystem system process terminated unexpectedly with a
status of 0xc0000006 (0x7ffe0297 0x0015fab8)
The system has been shut down.

I can't reboot normally and I can't reboot in Safe mode. So I have no
idea how to fix it. I need to get some important files off my
computer so I don't just want to reinstall windows.

I'm begging for any assistance anyone may be able to give me. I
realise there was another post covering the same error message, but
as I can't boot even in safe mode, I don't know how to go about
fixing anything.

Any help will be a god send.
Thanks

Boot from the CD-ROM. When it asks you to either set up Windows or choose
the Recovery Console, choose to Set up Windows. Then, it will find a
previous installation and ask you to repair it. Repair Windows. It will run
and overwrite the OS files with a fresh set. You should be able to boot
after that.
