When I start Windows it takes forever to show my desktop. The computer boots
normal and then shows the user screen. I click on my account and then it
starts it's thing and takes over 5 minutes to show the desktop. Someone
please help!!

Thanks Dave

the thing is, one of the main reasons for the why the desktop takes ages to start is because one if you have a very complicated wallpaper it takes ages to load, plus if you have alot of shortcuts on your desktop, also the same reason, and if you have alot of programs running in the background like a virus checker, firewall etc, they all take precious resources away from the start up, the only solution is to reduce your wallpaper down to a basic plain one with very few colours and also cut down on your shortcuts that you have on your desktop. hope it helps

Open the Help and Support Center and search for: startup troubleshooter.
You'll be shown a step by step procedure to diagnose your problem.
