I'm running XP Pro SP2. The Windows default startup sound stutters every
time I do a cold boot. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes, I have. Strangely enough, when I start the Guest thing, using my
password to open it, it is like a separate computer starting and the music
comes through loud and clear. I wonder why?

Interestingly, my wife's computer which is exactly like mine, does not do
that. The only difference is, that upon startup, hers comes up with a
password screen. Mine does not.

My guess is the boottime software startup is still hammering away when
the "sound" gets played in the cold boot scenario.
