My new IBM laptop has no Windows key[ie to make start menu pop up];
thought they would have on 2003 models.
I cant see how I can easily assign other keys in Help or this NG.
Advice valued.

Without a Windows key, you could assign personal keyboard shortcuts to any
shortcut that resides on the desktop or start menu. Right click a shortcut
file and you will see "Shortcut Key" on the Shortcut page.

Open Help and Support and type in "Specify Shortcut Keys" to read the
directions on which keys to use to create the shortcuts and a few caveats
that come into play if you delete a shortcut that has a shortcut key combo
assigned to it.

The start menu will pop up with Ctrl-Esc.

I'd suggest that you post this question at alt.comp.freeware in terms
of whether anyone knows of a utility to create a Windows Key
substitute. (If there's a solution without bringing in new software,
someone might know it.)
