Windows Sounds

I am unable to hear any of the windows background sounds
and music that plays with websites. But if I play a
specific file through media player it works fine. I have
removed the sound card and used the onboard one and it
still has the same problem.

Any idea's?

Hi Matt, check here

Go to Tools in IE, then select Internet Options
Now select ADVANCED
Now under the Multimedia section - see if Play sounds in Web Pages is checked.
