Windows Sounds..

I'm using XP he with SP3 and I've gone to Control Panel, Accessibility
Options,Toggle Keys, to enable ToggleKeys. Specifically to have a beep
when I accidentally hit the CapsLock key.

When I go to Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, the Sounds tab, I
don't see the sound for the ToggleKeys setting. Can I change that sound
like I can change other sounds like the Asterisk, Default Beep,
Exclamation, Question or System Notification sounds?

As far as I know, ToggleKeys uses the default "Beep" sound only. You can try
changing the sound for "Default Beep" and see if it works for you. Notice,
though, that all actions that use the "Default Beep" sound will then use
this particular sound.

When you top post, my original post disappears because of my sig file so
I've added my original post back, under your reply. Here is my reply:

The sound is not the default Beep, which I have changed. The sound
actually doesn't play through the speakers like all my other Windows
sounds, the sound only plays through the little speaker inside my
computer. It's like the beep the computer makes at POST. I don't think
there is a way to change the sound. Thanks for trying to help.

That allows me to turn it on and off but it doesn't allow me to change
the actual sound it makes. Thanks for the nifty shortcut though.

To change the sounds it makes, just replace the file with a .wav file of
your own. The wavs are located in windows/media IIRC. I've changed a
lot of the system sounds here; so I can tell more what's really going
on. One I changed was "navigation start" and "navigation ended" so I
know when site loads, entries, etc. are actually finished - I don't have
to wait around for the pretty pgaes that way, once I know the navigation
has completed.

I know how to customize the sounds in Windows but this sound is coming
from the speaker in the computer and not coming over the speakers hooked
up to my sound card. I don't believe there is a way to change the sound.

Hit the Shift key five times, click on Settings and select Use
ToggleKeys and you can hear the sound I'm trying to change. Although at
this point I've grown used to it. I don't hit the CapsLock key very often.

But ... are you sure it's not one of those .wav files it's playing?

I think, it will be located in a different place if you don't have
Office 2002, but for me, the keyclick for Accessibility is located here:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Media\CLICK.WAV or
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Media\type.WAV.
Accessibility seems to use the type.wav for me. I didn't look to see if
it can be selected differently in Accessibility, but I did change the
sound by taking another one and renamint it, and it worked. Try a
search for *.wav on Program Files; it should find yours, I think.

Is this the sort of thing you're looking for?

Not happening. There is no click.wav or type.wav file on either of my
two HDs. Thanks for trying to help.

The sound doesn't play through my speakers, it plays through the speaker
in the computer, like the POST sound does. It appears I can't change the
sound on my computer. I'm moving on.
