windows socket error

when booting up, rec'd error message:failure while
initializing windows socket. Tried reloading
drivers/cable software, but "windows socket initializing
failed." What can I do to help me get back on the
internet? how do I repair connection to windows sockets?
 
I am tring to find an answer for you but to no availe,what
os are you running and is there an error code?

Most often caused by a non-compatible 16-bit version of an application thats
trying to run the 16-bit version of Winsock in a full 32-bit OS like W2K.
Get the W2K compliant version of the software.
