Windows Sidebar Help/general help

Hello. I run windows XP on my desktop PC, till a get another computer, with
leopard. Now I really dont like vista too much, but my sister got a vista
laptop for her birthday. She is 9. So whenever I need it, I just take it and
go, like if I am going somewhere where I need a computer. Now, vista is slow
like I dont know what. So, I downloaded wubi, and now when I start up I can
boot to vista or ubuntu. Ubuntu takes 2 minutes to fully load from the time I
hit the power button, vista is 5 minutes and 11 seconds, and still freezes
up. However, I do occasionaly need to use vista, like on photoshop or
premeire, safari, or wireless internet. I told vista to NOT open windows
sidebar when windows starts. However, it still does. How can I tell it not
to. And the computer is faster once I close the process. But why, in general,
is vista soo slow. To not go insane, I am in ubuntu typing this, not vista.

Someone will tell you how to disable the Sidebar when Windows starts. Five
minutes or so in your lifetime isn't all that much. Leave it on. my
computer has been running 24/7/365 for several years.

Like a lot of people you 'just think' you are in a hurry. Nothing much will
change if the computer boots in two seconds or you get in a slow lineup at
the grocery store. If it really is important to you you could learn to
manage your time better. An example would be to turn the computer on five
minutes before you really need it.

yea, but after the five minutes is over, when I go to open say Apple's
Safari, iTunes, or firefox, or any other program I use, the computer is still
slow and almost unresponsive. It still takes about 1-2 minutes for a program
to open, which is sad. Ubuntu runs fine on the exact same machine, so I dont
see why windows, which you have to actually buy, is way slower.

Probably your computer isn't up to snuff. Suggest you stay with the old op
system till you can get a better machine that can handle the power of Vista.

Vista is what it is. It requires good hardware. If you want to run Vista
that is what you need.

No sense crying the blues about it on a newsgroup and suggesting another op
system works. Use it then.

Of course if the other op system can't handle a few programs you like then
you have to make a decision don't you?

Kinda like you can't get your tool box in the trunk of your VW. If you have
a half once of brains you don't get on the VW group and wonder why your tool
box fits in your friends truck and perhaps VW should help you out. No, you
go buy a truck... a 'mans truck'.

So.... go get this stuff (a good start)...

Pretty simple stuff eh?

Put it in a box and trust me you won't be concerned about a slowdown caused
by the Vista sidebar.

Your other op system might run good on it to... if you can find any programs
to your liking that the other op system can understand.

I'm thinking the other op system you talk about isn't really all that good
eh? I mean it sounds like it can do things fast... but if it can only do a
couple of things what good is it really?
