Windows Services in WinXP Pro SP2

I interested in a good source for which services are necessary, and which
ones aren't, in WinXP Pro, SP2. I've googled for it but what I've found are
sites that contradict each other. One site will state that a particular
service is necessary and another site will say the opposite. Years back I
used Black Vipers site and was very happy with the results but he's gone and
the best one I've found lately seems to be The Elder Geek. I'm not
interested in turning services on and off one at a time and testing them out
individually.

Does anyone know of a better source than The Elder Geek?

Thanks for your time,
David

What services are allegedly unnecessary is a matter of opinion. The fact
is that there is nothing to be gained by disabling allegedly unnecessary
services, and should you decide to do so anyway you may find yourself
with problems now and in the future.
