Security Center service is stopped. When I go to start/control
panel/administrative tools/services/ and right clicked Security Center and
start and got the following error messages. COULD NOT START THE SECURITY
CENTER SERVICE ON LOCAL COMPUTER ERROR 1075 DEPENDENCY SERVICE DOES NOT
EXIST OR HAS BEEN MARKED FOR DELETION

Smoocherz,

Click Start, Run and type Services.msc
Double click "Windows Management Instrumentation" service
Set the startup type to "Automatic"
Start the service.

Now, try to start Windows Security Center.

When was this problem first seen? It looks as if your system is infected by
a Malware of some kind. Though it's possible to reinstate the Windows
Management Instrumentation service using a REG file, it's better to do a
complete virus scan.

From another XP system running the same Service Pack level, open Regedit.exe
and export the following key to a reg file ("wmi.reg")

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\winmgmt

Then transfer the wmi.reg to the subject computer, and double-click it.
Reboot.

If that does not help, see the following page:

I got the file file from another windows xp sp2 computer and saved it as
wmi.reg. When I double clicked on it, all that happens is my computer opens
up a note pad file with this file in it. I also tried running a windows
diagnose utility called WMIDiag.vbs by opening a run dialog and typing
WMIDiag.vbs in it, all that it did was to open a notepad file with this
script in it?
