Windows Scheduler Failure, 0x80041310

I have XP pro on my desktop & XP home on my laptop. Both are updated with
all the latest Microsoft updates. I changed the computer names (domain name)
on both computers because they contained personal data. All items scheduled
in both windows schedulers failed to start. The windows scheduler will not
permit change to new domain name. It automatically sets old domain name.
When I “Applyâ€, I get error 0x80041310, “Unable to establish existence of
account specified†because the Microsoft scheduler automatically inserts the
old incorrect domain name. If I add a new account scheduler works OK with
new account. I.e. with new account the correct (current) domain name
(computer name) is automatically inserted. Problem seems to be similar to
Microsoft Knowledge Base article ID 303014. Microsoft acknowledges the
problem but does not provide a solution. I could add a new account and
delete my current account but I am concerned that my personal preferences,
favorites, e-mail etc. will be lost. Is there a fix for this?

You should use a dedicated account for all scheduler tasks.

While setting up a dedicated account for the scheduler I discovered that if I enter the password for an account I could change it and windows would allow the change. I have chosen to use only my origional account to set up the scheduler. I only have 1 account. I seem to have been able to configure the scheduler for my requirements. However, I have not had sufficient time to see all scheduled events start. I am not sure what a dedicated account for the scheduler would do for me.

Thank you for your help and encouragement.

A dedicated account is normally used because changing
the password of your normal account won't affect your
scheduled tasks.
