Yesterday I received a Windows Product Activation error (0x800703e7) when I
tried to start my pc. I was able to restart in safe mode and performed a
system restore for 4 or 5 days before. PC started fine. Same thing happened
today, but I was unable to use system restore to solve the problem - there
are no restore points. I am only able to start the pc in safe mode. I have
had the same pc with the same XP program since 01/03, so I don't understand
why I am getting this error. I tried the troubleshooting suggestions in Help
and Support, but none worked. I did discover that under system information it
shows
Activation Status Activation Pending (0 days remaining)
This could be the result of either a Windows update run amok or maybe 5
adware issues that I was finally able to resolve through the Symantec
website. I have automatic Microsoft updates, although when I checked today it
shows that I have not had an update since sometime in July 05. As far as the
adware issues, I would get them left over after every scan - Norton was
unable to remove them. Finally, I went to the Symantec website and was able
to download a fix for it ( I just remembered, it was Bargain Buddy adware).
This was last week, though, so I don't know why it would affect my pc
starting only yesterday. I haven't loaded any other programs or uninstalled
any, either.
Can anyone help, please? I have online classes starting back up on 11/15 and
really need my pc up and running.
