Windows Prefetch

I emptied the Windows Prefetch folder yesterday. How long will it be
until the folder is repopulated?

It will fill up as you use it by opening applications. Additionally the
prefetch REALLY only needs (should) be killed off when there were a lot of
programs removed and a usage change. It is - contrary to what people might
say - positive to delete them but it will fill up again. Really, delete only
when it is full of stuff that isn't important any longer. It generally is a
huge space full of stuff you might not have installed and even isn't
important any more and when that is the case - and only when that is the
case - you get a benefit from cleaning it.

I suppose you already know this but for those who don't:

Many thanks, Galen.

In Windows Explorer, I deleted thecontents of the Prefetch folder on
4/25 (two days ago). The folder is still empty on 4/27. Is this
normal?

Err no.

Nope, not at all. It should start filling itself back up again pretty
quickly. As you open more things and use more applications they should be
filling that up. Hmm... For the sake of rhetoric - give it 72 hours and open
applications and watch. Odd, just plain odd...

Thanks Galen and Jerry.

I found a site through Google that said 3 days. I'll wait and see what
happens tomorrow.
