windows password?

can anybody help cause gateway will not.....i have never
set a windows password and after 2 yrs or so i now need to
set a screen saver password but cannot because i dont know
the windows password.....does anybody know if there is a
default password or a way to reset the password....thanks.

i guess you are on windows 2000, if so try to logon as the
administrator user name with the password blank. if this
works go into control panel to view the users and reset
your password.

Reboot to Safe Mode, select Administrator, leave password
blank.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel and
delete/change the
password.

You do not need to reinstall if you forgot the admin or
any other password.

There is a boot disk you can download at:
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html

that will let you reset the password of any account on
NT4, Windows2000 or
XP.

Just follow all the default settings which are for the
admin account.
