Windows partitioner

I found out that MS finally bundled a partitioner with vista, albeit a very
simple one. This is good IMO - however, in an attempt to resize one of my
partitions - i followed the instructions and shrunk an existing parition (c:)
to make space (an unallocated drive). But i can't increase the size of my
other partition (F:) by absorbing the newly unallocated space.

I.e. right-click>extend - is faded and unavailable on F:, however it IS
available on C: o_O. I must be doing something wrong here...Any ideas?

You can't extend a partition to the left, only to the right, hence not being
able to extend your F partition into that unallocated space that is between
your C and F drive.

Thnx for the reply. But u gotta tell me, whats the reason for that? once
again..o_O I mean - if Symantec partition magic 8 (not to mention the myriad
of other apps out there) could do it, why not windows?

When you shrink a partition, the space is taken off of the end of the
partition.
When you extend a partition, the space is added to the end of the partition.
Removing and adding to the end is easier to do.
I believe that other software slides the partition first, then adds to the
end.
