When booting up I get an error message window (contains red circle with white
“X†in it, the error message itself, and an “OK†button). Error message
window name is:
/e,/idlist,:516:1720,
(note that the window name ends in a comma)
The error message is:
Windows cannot find ‘/e,/idlist,:516:1720,’. Make sure you typed the name
correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button,
and then click Search.
The message must be associated with EXPLORER.EXE, because Windows Explorer
opens at bootup whenever this message appears. When this message
mysteriously appears, the numbers 516:1720, in this case) vary. I’ve
searched the registry for “/e,/idlist,:†and find many instances of it . . .
so I don’t know which instance (if any) is the culprit. The error is somehow
associated with my ID account – if I boot up with another ID, the error does
not happen.
I’ve found that the only way to get rid of the message is to run a system
restore. In the latest case of this problem, the last thing that was
installed was an automatic Java update.
What is causing this problem and how do I prevent or correct it?
Thanks
