Windows Old

Hi, I am curious as to what windows old files are, I have a laptop with
dual XP/Ulitmate boot. and on the partition where ultimate is are these
files, which look like an OS, I noticed them when I was doing a full scan
last night, they amount to 12.4 GB.
can I safely delete these.
