The lower case letter L in Notepad appears almost like an upside down
capital L. This does not occur in any other of my word processing
programs.

Is this a Microsoft problem?

Thanks.

It's not a problem...that's just how it looks...
there are plenty of other simple editors out there if you don't like it
though

Open Notepad and change the font to what appeals to you, then exit Notepad,
the next time you open it the font you selected should now be the default.

Have you tried selecting a different font?

Yes, thanks. I have already changed the font as I want to use Wordpad
for short .bat files. I was just curious as to where that wierd
character had come from.

Are you talking about Wordpad or Notepad? They are two separate
applications in Windows. What is the font you were using that caused the
trouble, and were you using *Notepad* or *Wordpad* ??

Many thanks for the tip, Don. A very useful link. And well looking
into. Seems like a reliable site too.

Apologies, apologies. The weird character that I was talking about was
appearing in "Notepad" only.
