Windows NLB and NAT (Network Address Translation)

Is it possible to set up a Web Server NLB Cluster using private IP's behind
the firewall and performing NAT to the Cluster IP through the firewall? When
configured in this manner it seems to be hit or miss for external clients
trying to get to the web page.

Any info is greatly appreciated.
