Windows Network Shares Painfully Slow

Hi I installed windows Vista Ultimate RTM on an AMD Turion64 2Ghz processor
with 2GB of ram.

Everything is running very well except for explorer with network shares. It
takes anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes to open a network folder. The same
machine with XP is instantaneous. Other computers on the network are
instantaneous to the same shares as well.

Using a Dell P4 1.6GHz on the same connection is also instantaneous.

Exploring locally on Vista is very fast.

This is a show stopper if I can't get this fixed. The only other thing I
have installed is Etrust Antivirus. I tried disabling Etrust and the
realtime monitor and it is still dog slow!

It seems to be a 'feature', I have the same problem with a NAS, time to
make a cup of tea while it shows the details.

Try this:

The command to disable the autotuninglevel is:

- Click start, All Programs
- Accessories
- Right-click Command Prompt
- Click Run As Administrator
- Type the following: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
- Press enter
- Restart your computer (not really necessary)

I've had this same problem several times and ultimately the firewall was
always at fault.

I have the same problem....transferring files from network server is only at
about 2MB/s and the fact is, that i have 1Gb network!!!!

Microsoft guys, wake up and do something with this!!!

I actually had to go back to XP - I imaged my vista installation so I would
not have to redo everything if a fix is found... I have a funny feeling that
it may have to do with specific laptop hardware as I know others running it
on desktops flawlessly.

I just cannot justify the time to rebuild another computer only to have the
same issues...
