Hello. I have a system running Windows XP Home edition and am trying to share the internet connection with another computer running Windows 2000 Professional. The system running Home edition has 2 NIC cards. One is connected to a DSL modem. This system connects to the internet with no problems. The second NIC card is connected to the Windows 2000 system by way of a LAN switch, and cannot connect to the internet at all. This configuration did work at one time, but no longer does after a reinstallation of Windows XP. I have spent 2 hours attempting every possible configuration change I could come up with, but cannot get the job done. Both systems have all of the latest service packs and drivers available. Is there anyone out there who might have a solution for this?

*The event viewer is listing A DHCP error. "Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the Network Card with address 0007E9EDAAB5. The IP address being used is 169.254.14.218" The Ip addresses change from error log to error log

One of your NIC's is trying to get DHCP lease but can't
find a DHCP server. My guess is that it is the NIC
connected to the switch, unless you have a DHCP server
running on your network. Try setting this NIC up with a
static address, and set up the 2000 box with a static
address on the same network (for example 192.168.2.100
and the other as 192.168.2.101) with a netmask of
255.255.255.0 on both. Set the default gateway of the
2000 box as the IP address of the XP box. Hope this
helps.
