Windows Movie Maker problem

Bobby

I have a relatively old (but working) movie recorder which records in
MP4 format.

It plays back fine on my PC (with the Klite codec pack installed -
otherwise it doesn't) but whenever I try to upload any video to
YouTube or edit it in Movie Maker, the picture is mis-aligned.

I seem to only get the top left-hand section of the original video.
It's like the recording has zoomed to the top left-hand quarter/third
- which obviously ruins the recording.

The original if fine (I see the whole picture) but whenever I try to
do anything with the video, I get this weaird effect.

I appreciate that the MP4 format is a nightmare but this is really
strange.

Any ideas? Or can anyone recommend another video editing programme
that can output in different formats?

Thanks.

Bobby

I've discovered something this evening. The video (MP4) plays back
fine using Windows Media Classic Player but does not play correctly
when played in Windows Media Player. In fact, when I play it in WMP I
get the exact problem I get when I upload and display in YouTube
(which is my goal).

So, the video plays back on my video recorder and WM Classic OK but
not WMP or anything else that I try!

Help! I have some great footage of James Taylor playing in Edinburgh
(last night) that I want to share via YouTube but I get that awful
chopped playback on everything except Windows Media Classic (which I
downloaded as part of Kilte codec pack).

Thanks for replying but Google doesn't carry that NG.
