windows movie maker i cant place my avi clip onto the storyboard

i cant place my avi clip onto the storyboard help me please :(
it gives me the opertunity but when i place it over the board it lights up
as though it wants me to put it down and then when i do ..... it doesnt do it
im confused and quite frankly rather slightly almost anoyed help please
