Windows Movie Maker: Cannot capture video

I am using a Dell Dimension 8400, with Windows XP.

I am trying to use the Windows Movie Maker program.
The problem is my computer will not recognize the digital video camera which
is connected to my computer via the USB port. No new hardware is identified
at all.

However, it recognizes my still-camera through the very same cable, and it
recognizes the still pictures on the memory stick in the same video camera
using the same cable.

But as soon as I switch to VCR mode on my camera, it acts as thought it is
not connected.

Any ideas?

Just wanted to post that I solved the problem, in case anyone reads this in
the future with the same issue.

Turns out, I was mistaken in using the USB cord. Not sure if its a Windows
Movie Maker issue, but streaming DV cannot be captured using USB. So I went
out and bought a Firewire cable, and it worked! So happy.
