windows movie maker big problem!!!!!

i had a 8mm tape transfered to a disc and i want to put it on windows movie
maker to edit the film but it wont let me why not and what can i do, is there
another program i can get that will let me do it???
please help me

Lack of information on what you are really trying to do and actually
doing...

Such as "transferred to a disc" means?
What format is the file in?
What are you trying to do, specifically?
Why didn't you import it directly from your camera to your computer using
moviemaker?

Perhaps someone here can point you a better product to use in your
