Thanks,

Mobile Device Center is in RC1, but based on my experience when I connected
a Pocket PC 2002 Premium device it did not work. There seems to be some
issues still be worked out.

It was down in the pre-RC1 build also.

Wonder why MS didn't fix this before releasing RC1? Seems like a critical
application for people to test.
Maybe it will be patched in an update...

Yeah it worked fine in build 5348 for me, but it doesn't work in RC1. It's
odd. I can actually get to the files but I can't sync anything.

Agreed - its wierd that M$ have taken a step backwards with this....

Heres hoping they sort it in an update soon.

Yeah...I was just about to post a thread on this same topic...WMDC crashes
whenever I try to open it...when I plug in my PocketPC, it prompts me for the
device password as normal, but when I try to open up WMDC, it crashes with
the following error:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Retrieving the COM
class factory for component with CLSID {EE05EDE6-97CF-4D00-9B20-AD9EC0B45108}
failed due to the following error: 80040154.
at Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DeviceCenter.Program.Main()

Does anyone know what the Vista Beta Feedback email is? (I erased mine..OOPS)

THanks,

Matt

Hi,

The same here. It worked fine on build 5384, but it does not work on build
5600. I've got an ipaq hx2750 with windows mobile 5 on it. De device connects
fine but the WMDC won't start. Even if you try to start it through control
panel it won't start.

Anybody any idea how to get it work?

Regards,
Omid Givi

I agree with all the above. A Dell Axim v51 would synch fine with Windows
Vista Beta 2, but won't synch with Windows Vista RC1. The Control Panel
applet for Windows Mobile Device Center crashes immediately upon launch.

Just like in Beta 2, there is no WMDC in the image. In Beta 2 it came after a
couple of days via the Microsoft Update. Probably we'll get WMDC on the same
way next week. This is what I found on a MSDN-blog:

There's just one little problem. If you try Windows Update today, it will
not detect the WMDC download. This is because one additional step needs to be
performed to allow this detection to take place. Unfortunately that step is
restricted to internal Microsoft beta testers at this point. The friendly
Program Manager for WMDC, Lydia O, sits in the office next to mine. So I
asked her what was preventing external RC1 testers from using WMDC. She
explained that they're still working on some critical issues which make it
necessary to restrict public testing. Judging from the steady stream of
people walking in and out of her office all day, it looks like Lydia's team
is working as hard as possible to resolve those issues and release WMDC
publicly to Vista RC1 testers very soon

Any word on WMDC? It's now 9/16/06.
I have a Samsung i730 w/ WM5.
I can connect to it via Bluetooth and transfer files.
"Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" appears as a network adapter when
device is craddled.
WMDC however simply shows "waiting for device to connect".

any word?

I have an HTC Universal (XDA Exec) and sure enough no options to sync my
contacts and stuff! Blimey this is totally pants! I need to reflash my
Universal and can't until MS release the bloody update! OMG why was RC1 even
launched before the thing was fixed? What a joke!
