Hello group,
Do I need Windows Messenger? I never use it, and would like to delete
it. Is that safe to do, given how Microsoft tries to integrate its programs?

I'm running Win XP Pro SP2, with latest updates.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Click start/run, type or copy/paste in:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then hit <enter>

If you want to "delete it" why not uninstall it in add/remove,windows
components,
uncheck the box..

Hello Andrew,
I do not see Messenger in my list of Windows programs in the add/remove
section. Any idea how to find it?

Jeff:
You can permanently remove Windows Messenger from your system by going to
Start > Run and entering the following command:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
(note the two spaces in the command - the one after "2" and the one after
the "n" in ...Section)
