Hi Gary,

Pre-SP1, start/run this command:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Post-SP1, go to the Control Panel/Add & Remove/Windows Components.

Hi Rick,

I have already removed it from the Control Panel (removed the check mark
there next to "Windows Messenger") but the icon reamins in the System Tray.
How can I get rid of the icon?

Hi,

Check your Outlook Express settings to see if it is set to run when OE is
opened (tools/options). Also, if you use hotmail, it will always be there.
