Don't remove it - just click Start / Run / services.msc, then
disable it. It won't bother you again.

disable it is a good idea, I may want it later, but..
when I run services.msc I can't find Windows Messenger!
Is it under another name?

Have another look - it's under "Messenger" . .

If ever you have a problem again in finding the service name
for a given display name or vice versa, have a look here:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

Found it, thanks..
And guess what it was disabled..
But many times when I reboot I see its Icon on the bottom line and when
I try to close it, a popup says I can't because it's in use by an other
app which I'm guessing is OE..
But I don't see it today..

That's different from the Messenger service. To get rid of it go to
Control Panel>Add or remove programs>Add/remove Windows
Components and scroll down to Windows Messenger and clear
the check box.

You're welcome. The clue was when you mentioned the icon
in the notification area. The problem is the similar names for
different features. You've got Windows Messenger, Messenger
Service, and then MS Messenger. No wonder there's confusion.
It's like Product Key and Product ID, another pair that causes
mix-ups in terminology when people seek assistance here.
