Windows Messenger checking emails

Does windows messenger (4.7 or 5.0) suppouse to check for new emails on
hotmail account like MSN Messenger?
 
Greetings,

Versions of Windows Messenger up to 4.7.2009 will, 4.7.3000 (with SP2) will not and nor with
5.x.
