G Guest Sep 8, 2004 #2 There is a service called 'Messenger' that runs the messaging on Windows 2000. Just make sure its running START/SETTINGS/CONTROL PANEL/ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS/SERVICES Look for the messenger service. See if its started. if not, start it If there isn't no service there. Insert your Windows 2000 CD Goto START/SETTINGS/CONTROL PANEL/ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS Click ADD/REMOVE WINDOWS COMPONENTS & install 'Messaging' WARNING: By starting this service you leave yourself open to those messenger popup messages (the grey boxes that popup) when you are on the Internet. If the computer won't be on the Internet then you're ok I hope this helps
